This one-day seminar is a small-group
seminar that addresses what risks a buyer assumes when buying a
vehicle and how those risks are transferred to an
obligor/insurer and from an obligor/insurer to other
insurers/reinsurers for products such as warranties, vehicle
service contracts, GAP, credit-related insurance, and other
protection products offered in the F&I office.
What risks does the consumer assume when buying and
financing a car? How are those risks transferred to the
manufacturer, a dealership-obligor, an
administrator-obligor, or an insurer? Once the risk is
initially transferred, how are those risks further
transferred to insurers, producer-affiliated reinsurers,
multi-class domestic reinsurers, and non-controlled
foreign corporations?
This presentation will also address the contractual
arrangements, the statutory and GAAP accounting
treatments, and the federal income tax treatments of
such transactions and legal entities.
This seminar is for anyone needing an introduction to
the business of risk transfer for the F&I office product
offerings or for those wishing for a solid review of the
basics of risk transfer.
Learning Objectives:
Learn the specific risks that are created through the
vehicle purchase, particularly a financed purchase. Identify the methods
by which the risks are transferred from
the consumer to a contractual obligor, insurer, or reinsurer.
Gain an exposure to industry terms and terminology and create concrete
pictures of each term's meaning.
Compare the specific types of reinsurers, including the various ownership structures and key
regulations of the most common domiciliary locations. Learn how the federal
income tax status of insurance companies is determined or elected, and compare
the basic principles of each structure. |
