9th Annual Debt Protection Products Conference

October 21-22, 2008

Overview and Objectives

What’s New This Year?

We have restructured the first day to eliminate the Primer presentation since every registrant will receive a copy of Debt Protection Products in time to study beforehand.

We will use the time freed up to provide practical answers to the issues facing DPP managers, such as responding to questions about the expected impact of the economic environment on DPP loss experience and the possible effects from a epidemic or pandemic. A new presentation will be a practical simulation of a quarterly reserve meeting where reserve levels and reserving factors are determined.

The OCC has “sparked the gap” to permit indirect lenders, like a bank’s auto finance affiliate, to take involuntary unemployment protection and other DPP protected events into the vehicle dealer’s F&I office. There are practical issues to overcome. Of regulatory interest is how GMAC, FMCC, and others will respond to banks’ having a power that the manufacturers’ acceptance companies do not have. We do not have many of these lenders in our mailing list so we ask that you circulate this information to them.

We will see actual case studies where acceptance rates have improved on existing programs and the techniques that were used to make positive changes happen. We will see the first results from direct solicitation of HELOC and HELOAN in force loans.
